The asymmetry, you mean? I decided it was worth the sacrifice in order to get a total of seven theme entries in there. The middle initial would have upset 9-Down and 36-Down.

Good puzzle–love seeing 50-Across in the grid.

Maybe using his full credited name with the middle initial would have helped with the middle entry?
